Meet Devorah Jonas, BA (psych), AccFM, Q. Med, CDC, CDFA

Devorah is a family mediator and divorce coach who has devoted her private practice to supporting young families through separation and divorce. She is passionate about equipping men and women to navigate transition with dignity, clarity and hope as they lay the foundations for their family’s future. Understanding that every family possesses unique needs and sensitivities, Devorah takes an empathetic as well as pragmatic approach in working with clients, helping them to maintain a child centred focus throughout the decision making process. Drawing upon her background in psychology, she understands the complex dynamics of family systems and skillfully moves clients toward the resolution of their conflicts and concerns.

A graduate of York University, Devorah went on to receive designations as Certified Divorce Financial Analyst, OAFM Accredited Family Mediator and certification as a CDC Certified Divorce Coach. Prior to beginning her mediation and coaching practice, Devorah worked in a number of busy family law firms as well as Toronto’s court based family mediation services. She has become recognized for her work within the Orthodox Jewish community, dedicating herself to the creation of religiously and culturally sensitive resources for families facing transition.

A native of Toronto, Devorah is deeply committed to her community. Devorah serves on FDRIO’s FDR Week event committee, educating Ontarians on available options for dispute resolution. She is involved with the initiative Divorce Through a Jewish Lens, bringing together professionals from across the Jewish spectrum to create resources for families facing divorce across the Greater Toronto Area. She has also completed the Zareinu Movathon Ride for Kids.

When Devorah is not working, she is enjoying life as a busy mother. She enjoys exploring historical sites, pursuing a love of learning about most any topic, playing the fiddle, and occasionally escaping to the quiet of country roads whenever time allows.
